Emerg. of 'fit' agent protocols

CAS Systems develop order or pattern ‘for free’: this means that order arises as a result of independent agent behaviors, without need for other inputs.

Not only do CAS self organize in the absence of top-down control, they also do so in ways that allows more 'fit' kinds of patterns, protocols or behaviors to emerge. Through agent to agent interaction, weaker protocols are filtered out, and stronger protocols attract Preferential Attachment or growth. The emergent behavior is subject to  Contingency and therefore unpredictable, and is also subject to historical conditions.
