The role of the architect or planner is no longer the mastermind of a project’s form but the curator of the process that yields the form.
Technology and data has always played a role in how our built environment is made.

- The city and the buildings are products of a process that combines needs with contextual influences (data) and the technology of its time. Architects and planners used to drive this.
- Large or small, these "master plans" came to fruition under a more-or-less linear model for design and problem solving (top down). It allowed for the definition and implementation of visions both radical and conventional.
